Led by Santha Press, the La La Community Chorus is a project choir based in Warburton.
If enough people are interested in participating the group will reform for singing sessions beginning at the end of January.
The group will then combine with others from the region for a mass rehearsal and performance.
ALL WELCOME!
Singing, stretching, laughing and lingering, culminating in a fabulous choral performance event. The focus of this group is on fun. It is a safe place to come and sing beautiful songs with welcoming people, where there is no judgement, just encouragement and inclusion.
Proposed rehearsal dates are Monday or Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 pm

La La Community Chorus 2011 at the Opening of the Healesville Community Labyrinth
SING in a MASS CHOIR
as part of the opening of the
Healesvile Community Labyrinth Project
Led by Santha Press, the La La Community Chorus and the newly formed La La Little Chorus will be coming together to rehearse in Warburton throughout February and March 2011.
Singing, stretching, laughing and lingering, culminating in a fabulous choral performance event.
Repertoire will be taught by ear (no music reading skills or previous experience necessary).
The choirs will then combine with others from the region for a mass rehearsal and performance.

Sing in a Community Choir as part of the Harmony Festival
2010 Warburton Harmony Festival
Fun, friendly, relaxed, welcoming, harmonious and good for your health!
Singing has been scientifically proven to boost your immune system and to generate a sense of wellbeing.
Throughout February and March you have an opportunity to try it for yourself in the Supper Room at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre in Warburton.
These sessions will culminate in a performance at Warburton’s own Harmony Festival.
Repertoire will be taught by ear (no music reading skills or previous experience necessary) and will focus on themes of harmony, drawing from the music of many cultures.

Extra weekend rehearsal before the performance TBC
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 pm (please arrive at 6:45 pm so the class starts on time!)

Events she has musically directed and composed for include projects as part of the Commonwealth and Olympic Games Cultural Programs, the Apollo Bay Music Festival, the Griffith Food and Wine Festival, the Richmond Moon Lantern Festival and the Horsham Arts Is.. Festival. Santha specializes in creating a fun and supportive environment for the beginner, through to the experienced singer, to expand their vocal capacity and sing with joy and freedom.

WELCOME to the La La Community Chorus Blog!
The La La Community Chorus is a choir based in Warburton, Yarra Valley, Victoria.
We currently meet on Tuesdays from 6:30pm - 8 pm at St Mary's Church, opposite the tennis club.
While consistent attendance is encouraged, this group can accommodate people who just want to drop in and have a sing every now and then.
A session costs $12 or $10 if you pay for a series up front. Everybody is welcome and the group accommodates beginners and the more experienced.
Styles range from African Gospel, Moravian calls, chants and beautiful rounds from many different cultures, to 70's pop songs and original songs written by Melbourne based artists.
The current facilitator, Santha Press, is a local who has extensive experience leading community singing. She teaches voice at the Little Yarra Steiner School, lectures in community music leadership at NMIT, leads singing workshops for the Gawler Foundation and works as an independent community artist throughout Victoria. She also performs irregularly with local musicians in the Yarra Valley and manages Arts Access Victoria's Mental Health Program.
Next workshop series July 21st - August 25th with a Singing Swap Saturday at 3 pm August 29th for an all in sing with other local singing groups.
